The re-branding of Impact back to TNA saw lots of anticipation around who may be signing with the company. Under the radar a new faction had been forming which announced itself on the first pay per view of the new era, Hard to Kill.

The seeds for this new faction had been sown during the second half of 2023 as Brian Myers formed tag teams with both Moose and Eddie Edwards. Along with Eddie’s wife Alisha, a new faction was born called The System. Former NFL player DeAngelo Williams was also an honorary member on that first night.

I was initially underwhelmed about the prospect of this new faction but since it’s formation they have proved me wrong and have become one of the most decorated factions in TNA history.

The most dominant member of the faction has been Moose. The former world champion had been looking for any opportunity to get back to the top of card during 2023. That opportunity came in the Feast or Fired match as Moose won the contract for a future world title match.

Moose called his shot and challenged Alex Shelley at Hard to Kill. In a hard fought match Moose regained the TNA World Championship. His celebration was short lived, however, as the newly signed Nic Nemeth came to the ring to confront him.

The advantage Moose has over most competitors is his size and power. He is incredibly agile for a big man and this has helped him successfully defend the title against high profile challengers Alex Shelley, Eric Young, Nic Nemeth and Matt Hardy.

The odds are stacked against Moose heading into Slammiversary as it’s been announced he will have to defend the title in a six pack challenge. Moose will have one advantage over his competitors as he knows the can trust The System.

Brian Myers and Eddie Edwards have had storied careers as tag team competitors with Matt Cardona and Davey Richards respectively. When they first teamed together they seemed to lack an identity. They were just two good wrestlers who earned a shot at the champions ABC at Final Resolution.

Although they were unsuccessful in that match, a bond was formed and the following month the plan came to fruition. On the Hard to Kill countdown show, Myers and Edwards surprisingly defeated Eric Young and Frankie Kazarian. A victory over Kevin Knight and Kushida the following month led to them getting a rematch with ABC at Sacrifice.

This time the titles changes hand following a Roster Cut and Boston Knee Party double team move. The match was evidence of growing teamwork and synergy in the ring that Myers and Edwards had built up over a short period of time.

Each time they have defended the titles, there have been question marks around their ability to defeat the contenders. Victories over Speedball Mountain and The Nemeth Brothers have proved those doubters wrong.

Alisha Edwards first appeared in TNA in 2008, and has been a regular since 2017. Primarily cast in an underdog face role, it seemed the chance of winning championship gold was going to elude her. That all changed with the formation of The System.

Initially providing managerial services and interference for the rest of the group, Alisha decided it was time to go after some gold herself. Persuading the dominant Masha Slamovich to become her tag team partner, the duo wasted no time in defeating Spitfire for the titles at Under Seige. A first successful defence against The Hex at Against All Odds followed.

Against All Odds saw what appears to be a new addition to The System in Johnny ‘Dango’ Curtis now known as JDC. Coming to ringside seemingly to be in the corner of The Nemeth Brothers, he turned on them to align with Myers and Edwards.

The System is currently the dominant force in TNA. One thing that is certain is there is no shortage of wrestlers wanting to break The System. The end of Against All Odds saw Nic Nemeth, Ryan Nemeth, Joe Hendry, Matt Hardy, Reby Hardy and Jeff Hardy celebrating in the ring having run off Moose, Myers, Eddie, Alisha and JDC. All of these, and others such as Josh Alexander, will be coming for gold heading into Slammiversary.
