Cheers is one of the most lauded sitcoms of all time. Airing from 1982 to 1993, it followed the exploits of the staff and a group of regulars at a Boston bar. Lets imagine there was a reboot in 2024 where all of the characters are played by wrestlers. Let the casting couch begin.

Dominik Mysterio is Sam Malone: Who else could play the lothario owner of Cheers but Dirty Dom. Sam is always getting into trouble by dating more than one woman at a time. Dom can empathise as he has had his fair share of self inflicted difficulties in recent times with Liv Morgan trying to take everything from his Mommy, Rhea Ripley. Will Dom keep the moustache for his first major acting role?

Nick Wayne is Woody Boyd: Somewhat easily influenced, Woody arrived in Boston from Hanover wide eyed and innocent. Nick arrived in AEW as a teenage babyface but was soon corrupted by his new father, Christian. We know NIck is a good guy and heart and is the perfect choice to play the young bartender Woody.

Chelsea Green is Rebecca Howe: Rebecca has suffered a number of setbacks in trying to reach the top of the ladder. Chelsea has had her own career setbacks having been released twice by WWE and literally fell off the ladder when she was poised to win Money in the Bank. Will sparks fly between Sam and Rebecca in this reboot?

Matt Hardy is Cliff Clavin: Cliff is the man of a thousand facts, although not all of them are accurate! Matt loves a good Matt Fact and could spend hours sitting at the bar recounting them all. It is unknown how well Matt would cope with Cliff’s postal route but you can be sure that Vanguard 1 and Senor Benjamin would be on hand to help.

Saraya is Carla Tortelli: Carla has made some bad choices with men and is full of sass. Already ready with the sharp and sometimes harsh comment. Saraya, replying to on silly comments on X, is every bit as savage. Saraya, as Carla, would have the patrons quaking in their boots when they order.

Joe Hendry is Dr. Frasier Crane: Who better to play the renowned psychologist that the man who makes everything better. Everyone in the bar needs help and with Joe playing Frasier, you would believe that he is listening.

Otis is Norm Peterson: Whenever Norm enters the bar, everyone shouts ‘Norm’. Whenever Chad Gable is picking on the Alpha Academy, the crowd chants ‘Otis’. Otis would excel as the most popular person in the bar.

The main cast is set for the 2024 reboot, but lets not forget there are plenty of opportunities for other wrestlers to join the show. Diane Chambers and “Coach” Ernie Pantusso were both key characters in the early seasons. Dr. Lilith Sternin, Nick Tortelli, Eddie LeBec, Robin Colcord and Kelly Gaines all appeared in multiple seasons.

Can a reboot ever be as good as the original. With these wrestlers as the cast then to quote LA Knight ‘Yeah’.
