This is our monthly review of three things we enjoyed in wrestling during the last month. This month’s Positive Trio are DIY, Rowan and Progress Wrestling’s The Devil On My Shoulder.

It’s hard not to be invested in the history between Johnny Gargano and Tomasso Ciampa. From the Dusty Cup, to the Cruiserweight Classic to NXT tag team gold as DIY, the storyline was one of love. Love turned to hate after Ciampa turned on Gargano and they started what is probably the greatest feud in NXT history.
Seeing them reform DIY on the main roster was emotional and they reached the peak on the 3rd July Smackdown. Expectations of a title change heading into the main event were low. Grayson Waller and Austin Theory looked destined for a long reign after winning the titles at WrestleMania.
Seeds were sown in the weeks leading up to this as Gargano had reminded Theory of their history together and his thoughts on Waller. The match was also taking place in Toronto where DIY won the NXT titles. The in ring action was fantastic with lots of near falls.
There was a moment of shock when the refs hand hit the mat for three and then the emotions arising from knowing the journey they had been on to reach the top of the tag team division.
The best segments in wrestling often arise from real life scenarios. The Wyatt Sicks have debuted and have their sights set on Chad Gable. To build up the new characters in this faction, there have been a number of vignettes aired on Raw. The one that got to me most featured Rowan.
The Wyatt Brothers were one of my favourite trio’s in WWE history and you can tell they had a real life friendship and bond. It is still hard to believe that Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper (Brodie Lee) are no longer with us. This segment with Rowan, was raw and at times upsetting to watch. It did a fantastic job of building up the new faction and Rowan in particular. It made us care.

Wrestling is always best watched live and it was great to be in attendance at the Electric Ballroom for Progress Wrestling’s Chapter 169 – The Devil On My Shoulder. The show featured a good variety of matches and a number of highlights.
The pre-show was a special NOAH attraction match featuring Saxon Huxley versus Taishi Ozawa. Ozawa is spending some time in England gaining experience and really impressed. A big future lies ahead for him.
Speaking about big futures, Mike D Vecchio has one. Winner of the TNA Gut Check tournament last year he surprisingly hasn’t been seen in TNA since. His match against Axel Tischer was probably the match of the night.
Competition for match of the night came from Leon Slater versus Aigle Blanc. Slater is already signed with TNA and Blanc will surely not be a free agent for very long. Fast paced with spectacular dives, both men earned a rapturous ovation at the end.
One of the best promos I’ve seen in a long time saw Eddie Dennis turn the hated Tate Mayfairs face only for Tate to swiftly turn himself back heel. Again real life came to play in the promo with Dennis praising Tate for his work ethic and trip to Uganda.
Some of the best entertainment of the night came from the matches involving the US imports. Plenty of teeth were on show Danhausen was making his wrestling debut in England facing Gene Munny.
Chapter 169 was also the tag team debut of Bussy in Progress as they faced Charles Crowley and Session Moth Martina. Martina had one of the best entrances of the night along with Man Like Dereiss.
Containing something for everyone, it’s definitely worth subscribing to Demand Progress Plus to check out this show.
