Welcome to this month’s Positive Trio which celebrates three things we enjoyed in wrestling during September. This month’s selection is Jey Uso winning his first singles title in WWE, the heavy hitting feud between Braun Strowman and Bronson Reed, and the return of World of Sport Wrestling.

“I’m not finished with you”, was Braun Strowman’s catchphrase during his feud with Roman Reigns. The battles between Braun and Bronson Reed during September has had shades of this feud.
Fighting in the ring, throughout the arena and in the parking lot there have been some hellacious bumps. The match on Raw on the 30th September had the front two rows of the audience taken out following a spear through the barricade. The ring also collapsed following a mountainous superplex.
Braun needs to bring back his catchphrase and this needs to be like the feud between Peter Griffin and the Chicken in Family Guy – where every few months they start fighting again.

World of Sport is a brand that is revered in British wrestling history. The last run of World of Sport on ITV was underrated and featured stars such as Joe Hendry, Will Ospreay and Alba Fyre.
Rebranded as WOS Wrestling the promotion returned with a TV taping during September. The taping was great fun and a different, more family friendly style than a number of other UK promotions. Not even a fire alarm in the building at the end of the taping could spoil the show.
The standout performer of the taping was Alex Windsor who had the match of the night with L.A. Taylor. The men’s division had an interesting storyline running through the taping as The Kartel, led by Sha Samuels, were running wild. Another performer to look out for with great charisma was Sheikh El Sham.
The relaunch of WOS doesn’t have the backing of ITV behind it but an announcement around how you can watch it is expected shortly. Make sure you give it a chance and hopefully this is the start of bigger things to come for WOS.

YEET! The final selection for this month was the crowning of Jey Uso as the new InterContinental champion following his victory over Bron Breakker.
Knowing how close Jey had come to winning a singles title in the past – most notably in his matches with Roman Reigns – made this extra special. The title change was a surprise as a long title reign had been forecast for Bron.
The excitement built during the match with a number of near falls towards the end. The pop and celebration after Jey got the pinfall will live long in the memory of those in attendance and watching on Raw.
