I’m The Mountie! I’m handsome, I’m brave, I’m strong! I’m The Mountie! And I enforce the law! You can try to run… But you can never hide! Cause The Mountie…Always gets his man.
If you ever take a trip down to Cobb County, Georgia. You better read the signs. Respect the law and order. You’ll serve hard times. You’ll be serving hard times. You know the Big Boss Man will make you walk the line. You better watch boy or you’ll be serving hard time.

Two of the most iconic entrance tunes of all time belong to Big Boss Man and The Mountie. At SummerSlam 1991 we got to hear those themes back to back as Big Boss Man and The Mountie faced off in a Jailhouse Match.
Wrestling has seen lots of wrestlers from Stone Cold Steve Austin to Becky Lynch end up in jail for storyline reasons, but this match was unique in that spending a night in jail was the outcome for the loser.
The two law enforcement officers had taken different paths in their singles careers and both had sights set on being in contention for the Intercontinental title. The Boss Man had beaten the champion at the previous WrestleMania but only by disqualification. The Mountie would go on to be the champion in less than five months time.

Big Boss Man was fired up at the start of the match throwing several big right hands. The Mountie had the wily Jimmy Hart at ringside who played his role perfectly.
At one point during the match The Mountie goes his weapon of choice – the cattle prod. This was one of the most impactful foreign objects at the time as the combination of the noise and the light made it look incredibly painful. The Boss Man managed to avoid electrocution by moving out of the way just in time.

The Boss Man made a big comeback hitting the Sidewalk Slam followed by the Water-Wheel Slam for the victory and then the fun started. This was one of the most memorable segments from my early years of watching wrestling.
The Mountie gets dragged by Boss Man into prison vehicle as he seems reluctant to honour the stipulation of the match.
When he arrives at the jailhouse, The Mountie lets out a panicked tirade “You know who I am, I’m the Mountie, you can’t fingerprint me”. That line still makes me laugh watching it over thirty years later.
The Mountie has a cell mate who is clad in leather and you are left to imagine what might happen as the door is locked and The Mountie is left alone with him.
Whilst a Jailhouse Match is unlikely to happen again, it would be amazing to see it return for just one night. The perfect candidate for the return would be Dirty Dominik Mysterio.
Having already spent a night in jail, getting a teardrop tattoo in the process, Dom is no stranger to serving hard time. In the meantime, there will always the memories of the time The Mountie spent a night in a New York jail.
