Welcome to this month’s Positive Trio which celebrates three things we enjoyed in wrestling during December. This month selection was emotional as it includes three moments which provided the feels. Is Kevin Owens justified in his crusade against Cody Rhodes? Has Chelsea Green deserved her first WWE singles title? Do The New Day suck? Well clearly yes!

Let’s start with The New Day and the segment on Raw at the start of the month to celebrate their tenth anniversary. Before the segment, I had played through Xavier turning on Kofi, Kofi turning on Xavier and Big E getting the group back on the same page.

I hadn’t played through Xavier and Kofi both turning on Big E for not coming back to support them post his serious injury. Their was no physical contact but the emotions were Raw as Big E looked so sad walking up the aisle alone.

The New Day have since been shunned by everyone in the locker room from Jey Uso to Rey Mysterio and even Dominik Mysterio. It’s unclear if Big E will ever return to in ring action but if he does this storyline will be ramped up further.

The tournament to crown the first ever Women’s United States champion was exciting and unpredictable. It concluded with a high profile final on Saturday Night’s Main Event where Chelsea Green defeated Mia Yim.

Even though Chelsea is a heel, it was an uplifting moment knowing how hard she has worked after being released twice, developing her character and continually improving in-ring. The Statue of Liberty inspired outfit for her celebration demonstrates the the United States (well Canada) has a champion they can be proud of!

Saturday Night’s Main Event also saw the rematch between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens. After a hard fought victory for Cody, Owens launched a vicious assault including a piledriver which led to Cody being stretchered out of the arena.

The beauty of this story is that Owens feels vindicated in his actions and you can see why. Both Cody and Owens were regularly beaten down by The Bloodline but whilst Cody has made his peace with Roman, Owens has been through too much to ever forgive him. A ladder match awaits at the Royal Rumble and potentially an end to this heated feud.
