July was a month with lots to enjoy. The start of G1 Climax, GCW holding a show in a minor league ballpark and Goldberg having a final match which exceeded expectations. None of these are quite good enough to make this month’s Positive Trio due to All In, Slammiversary and Evolution 2 all taking place.
All In is the biggest show in AEWs calendar. This year Wembley Stadium was already booked with a Coldplay concert (it’s a shame AEW weren’t there though as Tony Khan and Toni Storm recreating the Astronomer CEO viral moment would have been hilarious). Instead the event headed to Texas.
It was fitting the night ended with ‘Hangman’ Adam Page taking the AEW World Championship as a true feel good moment. Toni Storm had an incredible match with Mercedes Mone and both of the Casino Gauntlet matches had fun moments.

Two things really stood on the show for me. Firstly one of the most emotional moments of the year saw Adam Cole having to vacate the TNT title due to having a potentially career ending injury. As he said goodbye, flanked by the other members of Paragon, highlights of his career flashed before me. The main event of the first Wembley All In, his Ring of Honor title reign, the formation of the Undisputed Era and the two our of three falls match with Johnny Gargano. Hopefully it isn’t the end of Adam.
On a happier note, the show saw an incredible tag team match between the Young Bucks and the team of Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland. The Young Bucks EVP titles were on the line but if Will and Swerve lost, they could challenge for the title for 12 months. Fast paced with lots of innovation and drama, this was my favourite match of the night. The match had a shocking end with Matt and Nick losing their EVP status which should lead to an interesting storyline in the coming months.

The weekend after All In saw TNA have their second biggest show of the year with Slammiversary. Another fantastic event saw the match of the night being the opener of the main card as Cedric Alexander and Mustafa Ali having a rematch from their Cruiserweight championship match at WrestleMania 34. The storyline build involving the other members of Order 4 added intrigue as they ended up siding with Ali and helping him to victory.
Elsewhere on the card, Tessa Blanchard viciously attached Gia Miller, Jacy Jayne won the TNA title and the Hardy’s recaptured the tag team titles.

The X division title match was the highlight of the night as Leon Slater captured the championship from Moose in a hard fought match with lots of high risk moves. Seeing Slater’s rise from the UK independents to this moment has been inspirational. Celebrating with his Mum and girlfriend, his night was topped off as the returning AJ Styles came to the ring to congratulate him.
The final entry in this month’s Trio was the main event of Evolution. Iyo Sky and Rhea Ripley are up there with the best wrestlers in the WWE.

They were having another classic match following the triple threat at WrestleMania, when Naomi came down to cash in her Money In The Bank briefcase. This was one of the more shocking cash in’s in recent years as the expectation was that Tiffany Stratton or possibly Jade Cargill would be her target.
Instead she hit Iyo with the briefcase and capture the title in a shocking end to the second ever all women’s WWE premium live event. The warning tape is justified – Naomi certainly is dangerous.
