This has been the toughest Positive Trio to write since this feature started over two years ago. I was a young fan when we lost Andre The Giant, Kerry Von Erich and Dino Bravo in quick succession. This month felt like there was so much sad news and difficult moments – with some inspiration thrown in.

The second AEW Dynamite of the year was always going to be a difficult watch as it was dedicated to Rebel who is battling ALS which is cause close to my heart. A few days before the show we heard of the death of Memphis legend Bill Dundee and the tragic death of the former AEW wrestler ‘The Butcher’ Andy Williams.

The Dynamite dedicated to Rebel was an enjoyable show and Rebel herself was an inspiration. The way she is battling the illness and raising money and awareness for the cause is fantastic. Seeing her come to ringside in her wheelchair and help her friend Britt Baker was a special moment.

The episode of Collision a few days later was a fitting tribute to The Butcher. I first saw The Butcher and The Blade at a Progress show in Toronto. I had seen The Blade previously but the look of The Butcher really stood out.

In AEW The Butcher and The Blade were accompanied by The Bunny. They were an always interesting and talented trio who made the most of the screen time they were given.

The tribute episode of Collision ended with a battle royal where his fellow Buffalo native Daniel Garcia was victorious.

It seemed the tragedy coming out of AEW’s All Out would be the scary looking injury to Steven Borden. Thankfully the update at the end of the month was positive.

It was then gut wrenching the following day to learn of the sudden death of Pac (Benjamin Satterley). I didn’t see the news until Monday morning UK time and I was in complete shock at how someone I watched in a great match with Andrade the day before, was no longer with us.

It is difficult to articulate how much he meant to the British wrestling scene. I was privileged to watch his last match in the UK against Luke Jacobs where he selflessly put his opponent over.

My favourite memory was during the period when he was Neville in WWE and his time as the ‘King of the Cruiserweights’ where he faced Austin Aries for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship at WrestleMania 33. Although it was on the Kickoff show, it was the best match of the night.

The tribute episode of Dynamite had so many moments that brought me to tears. From the look on Jon Moxley’s face to Renee reading out the letter from Pac’s family. The tributes from the AEW locker room, Will Ospreay hitting the Black Arrow, Marina Shafir wearing a Newcastle United shirt that Pac had gifted her son and the Death Riders embracing in the ring.

The way all at AEW have handled this difficult month makes them the first of this months Positive Trio.

The second of this months trio was the two night TripleMania where there were some memorable moments. Night one had a fantastic four team tag match and ended with Omos beating Rey Mysterio in a match where the AAA career of Omos was on the line. After Omos won the match there was an incredible spot where Rey was strapped to a stretcher and Omos slammed the stretcher through the announcers table.

Night two saw a several title changes and one of the most dramatic involved La Catalina capture the Reina de Reinas from Lady Flammer. Catalina has been impressive in recent months and continues to improve. Ending the monumental reign of Flammer was a great moment.

El Grande Americano finished the night in style with a victory over the AAA Mega Champion Dominik Mysterio. It was a special moment although one which didn’t quite live up to the main event of Noche de Los Grandes.

There was interference galore as initially J D McDonagh came to the ring to help Dominik. Rayo and Bravo came out to help Americano but the momentum was soon stopped by Omos.

One of the highlights of the match was the way Americano saw off the challenge from Omos and eliminated him from interfering. Just as it looked as if Americano would win, Liv Morgan came out to help Dominik.

This still wasn’t enough and Americano ended victorious leading to a joyous celebration in the ring.

The final of this month’s is AEW’s All Out. Aside from the sadness and worry associated to the event, there were some great moments including the Young Bucks regaining the tag team titles and Will Ospreay successfully defending the world title against Jon Moxley. We also had an interesting debut as Dani Luna answered Persephone’s open challenge for the TBS title. Luna is an incredible talent and a great addition to the AEW women’s roster.

My favourite match of the night saw Tommaso Ciampa challenge Kazuchika Okada for the AEW International Championship. One of the best moments of the match involved Okada confronting Ciampa’s wife Jessie and Daughter Willow in the front row. The reaction to when Willow gave Okada the double middle fingers was fantastic.

The match saw some incredible action and near falls. Ciampa hit Okada with both the Fairy Tale Ending, Project Ciampa and the Running Knee for near falls.

There was no fairy tale ending however as when Okada hit Ciampa with two Rainmakers, he captured the one, two, three. A great match between two of the best wrestlers in the world.
